Choose the finish.
Consider the whole room.
A tap starts the conversation. The waste, shower controls and smaller fittings complete it. Compare exact finish names before committing to a coordinated scheme.
Go to the finish checklistKeep three decisions separate
- Appearance
- Colour, reflection and how it sits beside your room materials.
- Product specification
- The exact finish name and product code for every item.
- Care
- The instructions supplied for that product and finish.
A photograph helps you shortlist. A physical comparison helps you decide.
Start with your room materials.
Put your tile, basin, worktop and cabinet references together. Decide whether the metal fittings should blend into that palette or provide contrast. Review the tap alongside the shower controls, waste and accessories; those smaller details will still be visible once the room is finished.
- Chrome
- A versatile starting point for a coordinated scheme. Compare the shape and proportions as well as the finish.
- Black Matt and Black Chrome
- Keep the names distinct on your specification. A shared colour word does not make two finishes interchangeable.
- Warm metallic finishes
- Gold Bright PVD, Gold Matt PVD and Blush Gold PVD are separate choices. Check which exact products are offered in the finish you want.
Jaquar UK lists alternative finishes on selected products, with availability varying by range. Choose the complete selection before assuming every item can be ordered in one finish.
Compare the same shape in different finishes.
These catalogue selections show the Artize Tailwater basin mixer. Keeping the product shape constant makes it easier to concentrate on the finish.

Give every visible fitting a line.
A short finish schedule makes discussions with the showroom and installer more precise. Save the exact variant on each product page, then add quantities in your product specification.
- Basin area: mixer, waste, trap if visible, and nearby accessories.
- Bath: controls, spout, handset, waste and any visible trim.
- Shower: controls, overhead shower, arm, handset, hose, outlet and enclosure hardware.
- WC and accessories: flush control, towel fittings, robe hooks and paper holder.
For each line record the product code, named finish, quantity and anything still to confirm. Mark a deliberate contrasting finish explicitly so it is not mistaken for an ordering error. Check fitting compatibility separately: a colour match does not establish that parts work together.
What does PVD mean?
PVD stands for physical vapour deposition: a coating process carried out in a vacuum chamber. It describes how a surface layer is applied, rather than one particular colour. Hansgrohe explains the general process (new tab).
Keep the complete named finish on your specification and follow the exact product documentation. Performance and care claims for another manufacturer do not establish those of a Jaquar or Artize product.
Choose with everyday care in mind.
Read the care instructions for the exact finish before choosing cleaning products. Jaquar UK notes that water marks can be more apparent on darker or highly reflective finishes, and that care requirements can differ. Follow the supplied instructions rather than treating every metal surface alike.
Keep those instructions with the product codes for future maintenance. Our aftercare page explains what to include when asking about care or a replacement part.
Product and manufacturer references
Finish examples use the selected catalogue variants linked above. General finish availability and care guidance was checked against Jaquar UK’s tap guide (new tab) on 11 October 2026. This guide does not assign a durability rating or warranty period to a finish.
Bring the palette and the product codes.
Ask the Birmingham team which finishes can be viewed together before travelling. Bring your room references and your saved specification so the discussion starts with the exact products.
